Das Kapitel fasst auf einer Metaebene die bereits vorliegenden Veröffentlichungen des Autors zum Naturalismus in der Habsburger Monarchie zusammen und gelangt zu einer abschließenden Bewertung dieses literarischen Phänomens. Anhand von Texten dreier Autoren aus den Böhmischen Ländern (Philipp Langmann, Franz Adamus, Rudolf Rittner) wird gezeigt, dass der Naturalismus in Österreich kein poetisches Programm entwickelte wie zu Beginn des Naturalismus in Deutschland. Deswegen vermeidet er die Fehler einer Tendenzliteratur und schaftt einen nahtlosen Übergang vom Realismus zur Moderne. Sein Differenzmerkmal liegt in der literarischen Zeichnung ambivalenter Charaktere innerhalb des proletarischen Milieus, an denen eine Integration der Arbeiterschaft unter Beibehaltung ihrer zentralen soziopolitischen Forderungen in den bürgerlichen Wertekanon exemplifiziert wird.

The chapter summarizes the results of author´s publications on naturalism in the Habsburg monarchy and comes to a final valuation of this literary phenomenon. Based on texts by three authors from the Bohemian countries (Philipp Langmann, Franz Adamus, Rudolf Rittner) the article demonstrates that in contrast to German naturalism Austrian naturalism did not develop a specific poetic program. That is why the Austrian naturalistic writers are able to avoid the mistakes of trend literature and to create a seamless transition from realism to modernity. The distinguishing feature of Austrian naturalism is a detailed description of ambivalent characters within the proletarian milieu. While maintaining their central socio-political demands, the authors present these characters as an example of integrating the workforce into the middle class set of values.
