Der Beitrag vergleicht - nach einem allgemeinen Überblick über die populärkulturelle Verarbeitung der Urgeschichte - die anthropologische, gendertheoretische und soziopolitische Konstruktion in der Romantrilogie Die Höhlenkinder von Alois Theodor Sonnleitner (eigentlich Alois Tlučhoř) mit narrativen Texten der tschechischen Literatur, die sich ebenfalls auf ein prähistorisches Sujet konzentrieren (Arnošt Caha, Eduard Štorch). Sonnleitners Trilogie erweist sich letztlich als Ausnahme innerhalb des Genres, da er seine reformpädagogisch-lebensreformerischen Vorstellungen in kulturelle Aushandlungsprozesse zwischen den Protagonisten übersetzt. Dies gelingt, weil er einerseits nicht (wie etwa Štorch) die nationalen Codierungen im Umfeld der zeitgenössischen Archäologie übernimmt und andererseits durch die narratologische Konzeption die statisch auf eine prähistorische Epoche beschränkte Erzählweise des konventionellen Jugendbuchs überwindet.

After a general overview of the popular cultural representation of prehistoric times, the article compares the anthropological, gender-theoretical and socio-political construction in the trilogy Die Höhlenkinder by Alois Theodor Sonnleitner (actually Alois Tlučhoř) with narrative texts of Czech literature, which also focus on a prehistoric subject (Arnošt Caha, Eduard Štorch). Sonnleitner&apos;s trilogy ultimately turns out to be an exception within the genre, since the author ‚translates‘ progressive education and life reform ideas into cultural negotiation processes between the protagonists. This succeeds because, on the one hand, Sonnleitner does not (unlike Štorch) adopt the national codes in the context of contemporary archeology and, on the other hand, his narrative conception overcomes the narrative style of a conventional youth book that is restricted to a prehistoric era.
