The aim of this study is to shed light on how societal actors interact with the local state. We focus on institutionalized networks that mediate the local state-society relationship in the Czech Republic. We do not take into account, however, specific local practices reflected in the literature as democratic innovations concerning particularly participatory or deliberative democracy because such instruments are not permanent but ad hoc created, and have no formalized deliberative assemblies.
