De satirische televisieserie Jiskefet liep van 1990-2005 bij de omroep VPRO. Terwijl de populaire satirische televisieserie Kooten & De Bie zich ook waagde aan politieke parodieën, was Jiskefet absurdistischer en maakte vooral parodieën op bepaalde subculturen. In deze bijdrage wil ik nagaan hoe deze tijdloze parodieën als lesstof kunnen worden gebruikt. Niet alleen is Jiskefet zelf onderdeel van de Nederlandse cultuur, de parodieën vergroten ook typisch Nederlandse cultuurelementen uit. Denk aan studentenverenigingen, de cultuur van vrijwilligerswerk, de zorgcentra die vaak in het nieuws zijn en de kantoorcultuur met de onvermijdelijke broodtrommel en kantoorhumor. Verder vormen de parodieën interessant taalkundig materiaal in de vorm van neologismen die de Nederlandse taal hebben verrijkt. Ook dit zal worden besproken. Tot slot biedt het feit dat in parodieën stereotypen en vooroordelen worden gebruikt de mogelijkheid om met leerlingen in gesprek te gaan over stereotypen.

The satirical television series Jiskefet ran from 1990-2005 at the broadcaster VPRO. While the popular satirical television series Kooten & De Bie also ventured into political parodies, Jiskefet was more absurdist and mainly made parodies of certain subcultures. In this contribution I want to look at how these timeless parodies can be used as lesson support. Not only is Jiskefet itself part of Dutch culture, the parodies also magnify typical Dutch cultural elements. Examples include student associations, the culture of voluntary work, the care centers that are often in the news and the office culture with the inevitable lunch box and office humor. Furthermore, the parodies form interesting linguistic material in the form of neologisms that have enriched the Dutch language. This will also be discussed. Finally, the fact that stereotypes and prejudices are used in parodies offers the possibility of discussion with students about stereotypes.
