The Bohemian Chronicles of Eberhard Ablauff and Michael of Carinthia on the Capitula generalissima (1430-1517)
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The capitulum generalissimum of 1517 is considered a fundamental moment in the history of the Order, including the conflicts between Conventuals, Observants and other reformed groups within the Order. Reports of this event can emerge from various parts of the Franciscan world, since numerous representatives of all the provinces of the individual groups of Friars Minor were present. And this is the case with the reports of the Observant Province of Bohemia. The chronicles of Eberhard Ablauff and Michael of Carinthia were written in the early 16th century and used a common source, some earlier histories of the Observant Bohemian Vicariate. However, the reports on the general chapters of 1506 and 1517 are independent and contribute new information to other known narrative sources. In particular, Michael has linked the narrative to his overall presentation of the conflicts of the Observants and Conventuals within the Order and sees it as a culmination of these disputes. Both chronicles, which are now being prepared for publication, offer new possibilities for interpreting this period of Franciscan history.
