Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Brick Lane by Monica Ali proves that the road to emancipation for a girl from a Bangladeshi village who is displaced in a British metropolis is hard to achieve. She has to overcome not only cultural and language barriers but also, she has to find the courage to make her own decisions and to act in favour of her children. Although she keeps hesitating about her independence and relies heavily on fate, in the end, she manages to free her thinking from the stereotypical roles when stays in England with her children while her husband moves to Bangladesh. Whereas Chanu leaves England as a loser, Nazneen is the victor who has succeeded in assimilating to a degree that enables her to retain some features of her native culture that she considers important.
