Esta exposición atiende al momento crítico en el que se produce la fractura confesional de Europa, la consolidación de la imprenta y la invención de los índices de libros prohibidos. Aspira a mostrar, a través de los riquísimos fondos de libros prohibidos y expurgados de la Biblioteca General Histórica de la Universidad de Salamanca, el vínculo entre herejía y censura en la primera Edad Moderna y a reflexionar sobre la conformación de las políticas de gestión y control de la textualidad y de las conciencias. Invita en fin a percibir el libro y la página impresa como objetos conflictivos, en los que son visibles las huellas de la confrontación política y doctrinal.

This exhibition addresses the critical moment in European history in which the confessional fracture, the consolidation of the printing press and the establishment of the Indexes of prohibited books all ocurred together. It aims to show, in the context of the rich collections of prohibited and expurgated books in the General Historical Library of the University of Salamanca, the link between heresy and censorship. It also aspire to analyze the formation of the policies of management and control of both textuality and conscience of political and religious subjects. Finally, it invites us to perceive the book and the printed page as objects of conflict, showing the traces of political and doctrinal confrontations of Early Modern Europe.
