Los sistemas con tecnología de traducción automática neuronal basada en inteligencia artificial como DeepL y Google Translate son herramientas útiles y gratuitas que han revolucionado el sector con millones de usuarios a diario. Sin ambargo, aunque pueda tratarse de tecnologías enormemente eficaces para comprender textos en lenguas que desconocemos, las traducciones generadas por estas aplicaciones no deben ser tomadas aún por finales y, por tanto, resulta imprescindible realizar un cuidadoso proceso deposedición a cargo de un profesional bilingüe. Un caso especialmente interesante en este contexto es el uso del chatbot ChatGPT como traductor automático. ChatGPT-4, la última versión de acceso gratuito, podría tener una gran capacidad traductora, incluso superior a la de aplicaciones como DeepL y Google Translate, especialmente si usamos una estrategia adecuada de prompts (o instrucciones).

Systems using neural machine translation technology based on artificial intelligence, such as DeepL and Google Translate, are useful and free tools that have revolutionized the field, with millions of users daily. However, although these technologies can be highly effective for understanding texts in unfamiliar languages, the translations generated by these applications should not yet be considered final. Therefore, it is essential to carry out a careful post-editing process by a bilingual professional. A particularly interesting case in this context is the use of the chatbot ChatGPT as a machine translation tool. ChatGPT-4, the latest freely accessible version, may have a strong translation capability—possibly even superior to that of applications like DeepL and Google Translate—especially if an appropriate prompt strategy is used.
