he article examines two contrasting models of travel to the Holy Land at the turn of the 20th century through the works of two Czech travellers and writers, J. J. Svátek and František Klement. Although both authors repeatedly visited Palestine and Syria and published travelogues based on their journeys, they represent fundamentally different approaches to travel, perception, and the representation of cultural alterity.
