O estudo propõe uma leitura de Bohumil Hrabal (1914–1997) a partir do eixo “absurdo/transcendência”, entendendo-o como operador crítico para interpretar a articulação entre experiência histórica, autoestilização biográfica e forma narrativa. O texto parte do caráter ambíguo da morte do autor e do conceito de “destino artificial” para examinar como episódios de guerra, trabalho operário e censura são reelaborados em dispositivos poéticos de produção de sentido. Analisa-se a centralidade da oralidade (pábení/pábitel) e do folclore urbano como matriz estilística, bem como a presença recorrente da morte como categoria estruturante da narrativa e da ética do olhar. Em perspectiva histórico-cultural, argumenta-se que a obra de Hrabal desloca o “sagrado” para registros profanos, mediante ressignificação de símbolos cristãos e incorporação de tradições filosóficas modernas (existencialismo), sem aderir a modelos confessionais. Assim, o posfácio descreve um procedimento literário em que a negatividade (guerra, sofrimento, ruína) é transmutada em forma e em “beleza” por meio de uma poética da atenção ao particular e de uma ética da compaixão.

This afterword proposes an interpretive framework for the work of Bohumil Hrabal (1914–1997) based on the analytical axis “absurdity–transcendence,” understood as a tool for examining the relationship between historical experience, authorial self-stylization, and narrative strategies. Taking as its point of departure the ambivalent character of the author’s death and the concept of an “artificial destiny,” the text traces how experiences of war, forced manual labor, and institutional censorship are transformed into aesthetic and semantic structures of prose. Particular attention is paid to the function of orality (pábení / pábitel) and urban folklore as formative elements of Hrabal’s poetics, as well as to the motif of death as a recurring structural category in narrative organization and in the value horizon of the texts. From a historical and cultural perspective, the afterword argues that Hrabal’s work articulates a secularized form of transcendence through the resemanticization of Christian symbols and the selective reception of modern philosophical currents, especially existentialism, without adherence to confessional discourse. The afterword thus delineates Hrabal’s prose as a literary practice in which negative experience (war, violence, the disintegration of social structures) is systematically transformed into narrative form and aesthetic meaning.
