Das Kapitel fasst die bisherigen Erkenntnisse über das Renaissanceschloss in Butschowitz zusammen und berücksichtigt dabei auch neuere Forschungen. Bauherr war Jan Šembera Czernohorsky von Boskowitz. Die wertvollen Arkaden der drei Flügel des Innenhofs mit Reliefverzierungen an den Zwickeln und Sockeln der Säulen können laut Quellen italienischen Handwerkern aus dem Umfeld von Pietro Gabri aus Brünn zugeschrieben werden. Die künstlerisch wertvollste Ausstattung der Räume im Erdgeschoss des Westflügels mit Wandmalereien und Stuckarbeiten spiegelt den Stil des norditalienischen Manierismus wider, im Falle der Stuckarbeiten den Stil der „Schule von Giambologna“, und hat im engeren mitteleuropäischen Kontext keine erhaltene Entsprechung. Auch aus diesem Grund lässt sich die Urheberschaft bislang nicht eindeutig bestimmen. Es wird die Beteiligung des Kunsthändlers, aber auch des gelegentlichen Architekten Jacopo Strada, der ebenfalls für die Habsburger arbeitete, vermutet, zumindest was die Ikonografie der Dekoration betrifft, auch aufgrund der Verwendung italienischer Vorlagen. Die kunsthistorische Erforschung des Schlosses Bučovice bleibt trotz bedeutender neuerer Forschungsfortschritte weiterhin ein offenes Feld.

This chapter summarizes the research of the Renaissance castle in Bučovice, including new findings. The builder and owner of the castle was Jan Šembera Černohorský of Boskovice. According to historical sources, the valuable arcades of the three wings of the courtyard with relief decorations can be attributed to Italian craftsmen from Pietro Gabri's circle who settled in Brno. The most artistically valuable decoration of the rooms on the ground floor of the west wing, with murals and stucco work, reflects the style of northern Italian Mannerism, in the case of the stucco work, the "Giambolognian" school, and has no preserved counterpart in the narrower Central European context. For this reason, among others, it is not yet possible to determine the author with certainty. The involvement of art dealer and occasional architect Jacopo Strada, who also worked for the Habsburgs, is assumed, at least in terms of the iconography of the decoration, also given the use of Italian models. Art-historical research on Bučovice Castle remains an open field, despite significant recent advances in research.
