The European Court of Human Rights (the Court) has a specific position in the process of the interpretation and application of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms as, by its rulings, it provides an authoritative interpretation of this international agreement. The article shows that due to its jurisprudence, the Court is heading for what is called the objectification of children. This social phenomenon concerns a specific attitude towards children (or human embryos) which makes them rather an object of desire and a means to realize other human rights (the private or family life of parents), than a subject a as human person (being), the holder of human dignity.
