The article deals with the concept of human dignity in the phenomenon of evolutive interpretation of European Convention on Human Rights. Firstly, it gives some basic cornerstones establishing the functionning of the European Court of Human Rights - judicial activism and judicial restraint, intentionalism, doctrine of sovereignty of contracting states (in dubio mitius doctrine), European constitutionalism etc. Secondly, it portrays some basic features of evolutive interpretation. And thirdly, it delineates the concept of human dignity as a possible limit for evolutive interpretation of the Convention.
