Mit seiner ersten Enzyklika entwickelt Benedikt XVI. ein Praxis inspirierendes theologisches Programm, das die Kirche liebenswert prägen kann. Den von Benedikt XVI. geöffneten theologischen Leitspuren geht dieses Buch durch Kommentierung und durch Ableitungen von praxisrelevanten Anwendungschancen nach. Einige markante Perspektiven der Enzyklika werden verdeutlicht, zum Beispiel die praktische Bedeutung der Eros-Dimension in der caritativen Zuwendung zu leidenden Menschen, die helfende und heilende ?Wirk?-lichkeit von Glaube, Hoffnung und Liebe, ferner die Relevanz der geistlichen Prägung der Caritas für das Selbstverständnis der gemeindlichen Caritas wie der organisierten Fachcaritas, um so aufzuzeigen, was im Sinne der Enzyklika das Spezifikum und das besondere Profil der Caritas ausmacht.

With his first encyclical letter, Benedict XVI has proposed a theological program which aims to endearingly mould the Church and which also inspires the practical work of the Christian social services. The present book in the first place traces the theological guidelines of Benedict XVI through its comments and the deduction of possible uses for relevant practical objectives of the charitable services. The author subsequently clarifies several most prominent views of the encyclical letter, such as for instance the impact and practical concern of the dimension of Eros in charitable care for those who suffer, for the helping and healing effects of faith, hope, and love. Furthermore, the book shows the relevance that charity possesses for the spiritual condition of the self-image of charitable social work in the common parish as well as in professionally organized charity-work.
