The paper is an outline drawing some parallels between the life and work of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955) and the life and work of a Czech priest and bishop Felix Maria Davídek (1921-1988). After returning from communist prisons, where he had spent 14 years, Davídek obtained recently published copies of Teilhard’s work. Many of the fundamental features of Teilhard’s theological contribution were inserted by Davídek into the curricula of the clandestine theological faculty which he was founding. The outline proceeds with some similarities in their lives – their call to spirituality and priesthood, and the importance they placed on studies of the “book of nature”, i.e. sciences. Davídek also founded the virtual community Koinotés where he applied Teilhard’s approach and extended it. Some examples are given of unique features of Davídek’s theology and praxis.
