Il Convegno si è inserito nel ciclo di incontri scientifici che l’ASLI organizza periodicamente con l’intento di promuovere la ricerca teologica su Martin Lutero e sul suo contesto storico-dottrinale. L’edizione del 2025 ha affrontato un tema di particolare rilevanza e, al contempo, relativamente poco esplorato sia nella teologia cattolica sia in quella protestante: la teologia trinitaria di Lutero. Attraverso il contributo di studiosi di riconosciuto livello internazionale, provenienti da differenti tradizioni confessionali e ambiti disciplinari, il convegno ha offerto un approfondimento originale di un aspetto centrale ma spesso sottovalutato del pensiero luterano, mettendone in luce le implicazioni bibliche, teologiche ed ecumeniche. L’attenzione alla Trinità si è configurata così non solo come una rilettura critica di Lutero, ma anche come un’occasione feconda di dialogo tra le confessioni cristiane e di rinnovata riflessione teologica contemporanea.

The conference formed part of the series of scholarly meetings regularly organised by ASLI with the aim of promoting theological research on Martin Luther and his historical and doctrinal context. The 2025 edition addressed a topic of particular significance that has nevertheless remained relatively underexplored in both Catholic and Protestant theology: Luther’s Trinitarian theology. Through the contributions of internationally recognised scholars from diverse confessional traditions and disciplinary backgrounds, the conference offered an original and in-depth examination of a central yet often underestimated dimension of Lutheran thought, bringing to light its biblical, theological, and ecumenical implications. The focus on the Trinity thus emerged not only as a critical reappraisal of Luther’s theology, but also as a fruitful opportunity for dialogue among the Christian confessions and for renewed reflection in contemporary theology.
