La fin du vingti?me et le début du vingt-et-uni?me si?cles sont caractérisés ? entre autres ? par l?intér?t décroissant des jeunes pour les études en sciences naturelles et la carri?re de chercheur dans ce domaine. Les pédagogues cherchent des raisons expliquant ces tendances pour prendre des mesures et améliorer la situation. Dans ce contexte, une initiative ayant pour objectif de chercher des possiblités de motivation des étudiants en sciences naturelles vers le travail scientifique portant sur le concours scientifique des étudiants ayant la forme d?une conférence scientifique réelle. A period of the end of 20th and the beginning of 21st century is characteristic by declining interest of young generation in natural science studies and consequently an interest in a career of a researcher in this area is lowered. An effort is exerted not only by paedagogical community to find reasons for these trends, as well as to search for remedy of this situation. Within the framework of these efforts an initiative at the Palacky University, Faculty of Science came into an existence, which in orderto motivate the students to scientific work established scientific contest in the form of a real scientific conference which is to be held annually. A sociological analysis was performed prior to first conference, mapping the actual attitudes of the university students to studies in the area of natural sciences and to the career of a researcher.
