Nanobiopesticides in agriculture: State of the art and future opportunities
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The ever-growing human population needs an ever-larger quantity of food. Because resources are limited, intensification of agriculture is necessary. However, because this also has its limits, it is necessary to proceed to another possible strategy-better protection of crops from pests (Arora et al., 2016; FAO, 2009; Population Institute, 2017). Plant diseases need to be controlled to maintain the quality, quantity, and diversity of food and feed produced by farmers. Various approaches to prevention, reduction, and control of plant diseases can be used. Beside general “good farming” and fostering of the ground, farmers dispose of a number of chemical/synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. “Biopesticides” or “biological pesticides” are defined as agents used to manage agricultural pests by means of specific biological effects rather than as chemical pesticides.
