The symposium &quot;ATLASES: their design and use&quot; was held under the auspices of the International Cartographic Association (ICA) and the Department of Geoinformatics of Palacký University in Olomouc. The symposium hosted the expert meetings of three ICA commissions: the Commision on Atlases, Map Design and User Experience, which corresponded to the focus of the expert contributions. The program included 44 papers and 3 workshops containing expert knowledge, opinions or research with top cartographers, geoinformaticians, designers and other experts in the field. The program, in addition to the professional part consisting of expert presentations and open discussions, offered 95 participants from 15 countries a unique domestic and international atlas cartographic exhibition.
