The assessment of movement activites using the Parkinson Activity Scale in subjects with Parkinson`s disease

The study was focused on the assessment of changes in the performance of activities of daily living by subjects with Parkinson's disease. Thirty-two patients in stages I-IV according to the Hoehn and Yahr Scale were enrolled in the study (10 women, 22 men; mean age = 59.4, SD = 9.1 years; mean disease duration = 8.3 years). The Parkinson Activity Scale translated into the Czech language and the scale according to Hoehn and Yahr we used. The Parkinson Activity Scale is a 10-item scale (a 5-point scoringsystem from zero to four) and is divided into four categories: Chair Transfer, Gait Akinesia, Bed Mobility and Bed Mobility with Cover. The worst results we obtained in category Bed Mobility with Cover. The Parkinson Activity Scale can sensitively assessthe functional state of the patients and it can reflect the changes in the performance of daily activities.
