Laterality and the accuracy of movement in the elbow joint
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Accuracy of movement is one of the basic qualities of human movement and it is dependent on the level of cooperation of antagonistic muscle groups. We suppose hypothetically that the accuracy of the movement of the preferred extremity will be significantly higher than the same movement of the non-preferred extremity. A set of 32 (aged 19-30 years) healthy men with a pronounced right handed lateral preference of the upper extremities were the subjects of the experiment. The flexion of the elbow from theinitial extended position to the target position of 90° was the tested movement. By means of the use of a special apparatus (Fig. 1A) the initial function α (t) of forearm turning has been measured and, based on the kinematic analysis of the function of angular velocity ω (t) and angular acceleration ε (t), measurements were derived. Based on the results, we were able to ascertain that differences in the accuracy of the movement of the preferred and non-preferred extremity
