Experience in utilization of heart rate variability in sports [CD]
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Monitoring physical performance is of major importance in competitive sports. High-quality complex sports training and optimal tapering before the important events are necessary for acquirement of excellent sports results. Prolonged training leads to changes in autonomic nervous system activity that can be studied using spectral analysis of heart rate variability (SA HRV). Variations in SA HRV and variations in performances have been shown to be correlated. The paper deals with possibility of utilization of the SA HRV in control of individual training and optimizing the tapering in top athletes. 36,000 SA HRV measurements were carried out since 1995, mainly in the top athletes in ice hockey, football, cycling, canoeing, weightlifting, wrestling, parachuting, triathlon, handball, track athletic, swimming, tennis, and badminton. Some athletes who employed the SA HRV results for control of sports training acquired the medals in the Olympic Games, World or European Championships, World Cup
