An assessment of pressure distribution exerted by a rider on the back of a horse during hippotherapy
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Hippotherapy uses locomotion impulses that are emitted from the horse?s back while the horse is walking. This movement stimulates the rider?s posture-reflective mechanisms, with accompanying balance training and movement coordination. The locomotion impulse is influenced by its physique, movement technique in step, its temperament etc. The aim of the study was to assess the changes of pressure magnitude and distribution on the contact of the rider?s body and horse back during repeated hippotherapeuticallessons. The monitored group (women, n=4, average age 22.75 years, body weight 59.75 kg, height 167.25 m, without any previous horse riding experience) underwent lessons nine times, twice a week for a period of 20 minutes. Hippotherapy was conducted ona 15 year-old mare of English Thoroughbred. The elastic pad (Novel Pliance System, 30 Hz, 224 sensors) was used for pressure magnitude evaluation. The pressure value was increased in the event of a second measurement (5th lesson, growing
