This chapter describes the geographical nuances of the philosophy of sport and gives some thematic as well as organizational information about the development of the discipline in different countries. The Philosophy of Sport, also known as philosophy ofphysical culture or philosophical kinanthropology, is a relatively young discipline that applies philosophical dialogue to the areas of body image, human physical movement and critiques of organized sport. During the discipline's short existence, specific schools of thought have emerged in different geographic areas around the world. For example, the English speaking world uses analytic philosophy as the main discourse of the discipline while Central and Eastern Europe with Slavonic languages concentrate on phenomenology and Japan and Taiwan utilize the Eastern traditions of religion, philosophy and movement as central.
