World Prices of Cocoa Beans and its Impact on the GDP of Ghana

The article is focused on the analysis of relationship between the Ghana's GDP and the level of world price of cocoa beans. The influence of the world price of cocoa beans on the GDP of Ghana is investigated from 1980 to 2006. For the purpose of given analysis, a dynamic linear model is developed and statistically tested by the authors. The achieved results validate the significant impact of the world price of cocoa beans on the GDP of Ghana. The correlation coefficient achieved the value of . The coefficient of determination was equal to and -level of its F-test was. Under determined value of the price regression coefficient of the developed model, we can estimate that the increase in the world price of the cocoa beans by SDRs (standard drawing rates)per tonne causes the real increase of Ghana's GDP approximately by billion Cedis (national currency).
