Characteristic species with sufficiently known way of living, requirements as well as possible causes of their endangering were chosen as umbrella species for protection and management of individual biotopes in floodplain forest. Species of open forest and forest clearings, species of insolated wood and woodland edges, species of trees hollows and dead wood, species of hygrophilous meadows and species of wetlands and riparian stands have been delimited. The ways of life and habitat requirements of thesespecies were briefly described together with requirement for management of the habitat. Examples of more significant species with similar requirements on environment and management were added.
