Effect of acidification on soil microbial activity in alpine meadow
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Alpine meadows, which were previously lacking in nitrogen, are due to anthropogenic deposition of nitrogen compounds overloaded with nitrogen. Increased input of nitrogen to alpine ecosystems is reflected in the activities of microbial communities, whichfirst respond to these changes. Microbial oxidation of unutilized nitrogen, which can then escape from the ecosystem accompanied with the basic cations, leads to escalation of acidification. The activity of microbial communities may thus influence the acidification process, primarily caused by acid atmospheric deposition. Experimental work was done on Salatín locality in the Western Tatras region (Slovak republic) on experimental plots deigned as; control treatment, treatment with different nitrogen loads as well as the treatment with an increased input of phosphorus. Availability and movement of mineral nitrogen was monitored "in situ" method, field technique using ion exchange resins applied in special covers. Thus, we can indirectly
