A new species of the genus Acosmeryx Boisduval, 1875, Acosmeryx akanshi sp. nov. is described from the southern India state of Karnataka. A comparison of the habitus and male genitalia, together with a genetic analysis of DNA barcode sequences, is made with those of Acosmeryx shervillii Boisduval, 1875, its closets relative in the genus Acosmeryx.
