Coffee belongs to the most traded (not only) agricultural commodities. Despite the fact, it has emerged a "coffee boom" in consuming countries, international coffee prices have fallen dramatically down and agricultural producers have been caught in the "coffee crisis". At a country level, the economic prosperity of many developing countries is closely connected with coffee production, as well as other primary commodities. The aim of this paper is to make functional and financial analysis of coffee commodity chain and on the basis of gained results to suggest some possibilities to improve the balance of power along the whole commodity chain. The main methodological instruments used in this paper are drawn from Global Commodity Chain (GCC) analysis.
