Analysis of student English level at Mendel University
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
English is now used almost exclusively as the language of science. The adoption of a de facto universal language of science has had an extraordinary effect on scientific communication: by learning a single language, scientists around the world gain access to the vast scientific literature and can communicate with other scientists anywhere in the world. In order to identify it, personal questionnaire and the TOEIC Listening and Reading Test to 286 bachelor students were provided measuring the language skills from A1 to C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The results were processed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and followed by testing using the Tukey test (α = 0.05). Statistically significant difference between the genders was not proved in any of the language levels A1-C1. The English level was significantly higher by the students from Faculty of Agronomy than by the students from Faculty of Horticulture at Mendel University in Brno.
