Este artículo se enfoca en viajes organizados desde la República Checa hasta la Amazonía con el propósito de participar en ceremonias de ayahuasca. La ayahuasca es una preparación psicoactiva que actualmente se utiliza principalmente para el desarrollo personal y la curación de ciertos padecimientos. El objetivo principal de este artículo es descubrir qué motiva a los turistas checos a visitar la Amazonía y usar la ayahuasca. Además, explicamos cómo se organizan dichos recorridos en función de las percepciones de los participantes. El trabajo de campo se realizó entre enero y junio de 2018. Un total de 21 encuestados (9 mujeres y 12 hombres) participaron en la investigación. Se grabaron entrevistas semiestructuradas con una duración promedio de 37 minutos con los informantes (15 horas en total). Las transcripciones fueron analizadas bajo el método de la teoría fundamentada. Los resultados indican que una serie de factores interrelacionados han jugado un papel en la decisión de participar en el recorrido: adquirir nuevos conocimientos, la convivencia entre familiares y amigos, la invitación de los habitantes nativos, el grupo turístico y las aventuras. Los checos que participaron en ceremonias de ayahuasca prefi eren paquetes turísticos a Colombia, Perú y Ecuador.

This article focuses on trips organized from the Czech Republic to the Amazon for the purpose of participating in ayahuasca ceremonies. Ayahuasca is a psychoactive preparation that is currently used mainly for personal development and the treatment of certain ailments. The main objective of this article is to discover what motivates Czech tourists to visit the Amazon and use ayahuasca. In addition, we explain how these tours are organized based on the perceptions of the participants. The fieldwork was carried out between January and June 2018. A total of 21 respondents (9 women and 12 men) participated in the research. Semi-structured interviews with an average duration of 37 minutes (15 hours in total) were recorded with the informants. The transcripts were analyzed by the Grounded theory method. The results indicate that a series of interrelated factors have played a role in the decision to participate in the tour: acquiring new knowledge, coexistence with family and friends, invitation of native inhabitants, tourist group, and adventures. Czechs who participated in ayahuasca ceremonies prefer tour packages to Colombia, Peru and Ecuador.
