Temperate forest of Chile and Argentina are unique ecosystems of southern hemisphere. the composition and distribution of native Nothofagus forests were studied in the investigation in the rainiest part, which is located in centralsouth Chile and also inthe Andes in Argentina. Three forst types were found to be dominating. They were composed mostly of Nothofagus alpina, dombeyi, obliqua, pumilio of which ranged from sea side to the mountainous forests in more 2000 m above sea level.
