Logging debris from summerand autumn cleaning was arranged in three variants, viz cut into sections in a stand, left in whole lenghts either in the stand or out of the stand. Non uniform desiccation of floem modified the onset and development of a species Pityogenes chalcographus (L.) and accompnying species. Material from autumn cleanings left in whole lenghts can be considered to be attractive contributing to the reproduction of Pityogenes chalcographus (L.). It is most advantageous to carry out summer cleaning with crosscutting stem to sactions, which are invaded only by Dryocoetes sp. and not by Pityogenes chalcographus (L.).
