Riwer willow as a component of the biological bank protection of water reservoirs in the cultural landscape
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The aim of the study was to evaluate the growth and vegetative propagation of Salix fluviatilis Nuttall (river willow) in plantings on three places in southern Moravia. The research plots were taken up on a dam between the upper Mušov and middle Věstonice reservoirs, at the Brno dam reservoir and at the Bílovec pond. The effectiveness of willow in the abrasion protection of banks was examined there. Numbers of caulomes and their diameters at a height of 50 cm were determined as well as the amount of root suckers shorter than 50 cm. The data were evaluated for 1-m strips starting at the water table. The research continued by the primary production analysis of river willow. The vegetative propagation was assessed at the Brno dam reservoir and Bílovec pond. It was very successful, about 99% cuttings created roots. More than 100 shoots per 1 m2 represent a very effective protective means against smaller waves and the willow root system forms a mat which prevents washing away the bank soil
