A fact to be emphasized within the framework of efforts focused on an objective view of the issue of providing financial compensations for damages caused by the restricted forest management is that the current methodology does not consider the logging and haulage costs. While the costs of timber logging do not significantly derive from the production conditions of the forest stand, the costs of timber skidding significantly change in dependence on the production conditions. Production and technical conditions of the forest stand are therefore a crucial factor for the cost price of the raw timber production process. A tool useful for a more objective area differentiation, not only in the assessment of the economic requirements of management measures onthe basis of a more objective assessment of production conditions but also for the application of environmentally acceptable production technologies in both logging and silvicultural operations, appears to be the terrain classification co
