Relationship between crown status and radial increment of Norway spruce forest stands under stress impacts in the Silesian Beskids Mts.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In the last years, Norway spruce forest stands in the Slezské Beskydy Mts. (forest enterprise Jablunkov) have been exposed by increased environmental stress impact, resulting in the decrease of tree vitality. It has been manifested by increased defoliation and extensive needle yellowing, following by bark beetle outbreak. These phenomena have been observed also in neighbouring areas in Slovakia and Poland. The aim of the contribution is to inform about the found relationship between the stress responsehistory of the crown structure and dendroclimatological analysis of trees. In comparison with other mountain areas with similar defoliation rate, Norway spruce forest stands in the Silesian Beskids Mts. had lower percentage of secondary shoots. It indicates relatively short time and quick course of the forest decline process. Some consequence between tree resistance and resilience and radial increment rate was revealed and discussed.
