Current status and prospects of the market with energy woodchips in the Czech Republic

The article is a partial contribution to the broad economic issues of renewable natural resources in the Czech Republic. Using publicly available information sources and databases, it describes and analyses the current state of the market for forest woodchips for the period from 2005 to 2009 in terms of the balance of consumed volumes, available quantity and proportion in achieving a partial indicative target of 8.0% of the share of renewable energy sources in gross domestic energy consumption till 2010. It discusses the bases for a potential increase in the share of forest woodchips in the energy mix of renewable energy sources in the Czech Republic and further development of the market for energy woodchips.
