Energy, carbon and economic balance of Norway spruce monocultures and near-natural forests
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The assesment of energy, carbon and economic balances, completed by environmental load computation using the Life Cycle Assessment method, could be a useful tool for sustainable forest management examination. These methods were used to compare forest stands with different management in the Novohradské Mts. (Czech Republic). For this purpose, one of the main forest management set of stands in the research area was chosen. The differences between energy and carbon efficiency were small while the differences between economic efficiency were considerable for all the alternatives. From these, higher energy carbon and economic efficiency for Norway spruce monocultures were achieved; however, abiotic disturbances have not been included in the calculation yet.The main part of energy inputs and carbon emission consists of silviculture and timber transport.
