Floods in many countries over the past decades and the resulting consequences have led, in the face of an increase in social responsibility to a new approach, that of flood risk management, an approach in which awareness and involvement of human communities play a crucial role in avoiding loss of life and reducing material damage. The research aims at the risk of floods and the public perception of the inhabitants of Romania. The study aims to determine the population&apos;s perception of the risk of floods to outline the need for information related to them both in the education system and daily life. The results showed that people are not aware of the risks induced by floods, nor are they prepared to také the necessary measures to prevent and remedy the negative effects.
