Stability of Induced Autopolyploidy in Viola x wittrockiana Gams.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Two hexadecaploid (16x) genotypes of garden pansy both from induced chromosome doubling (autopolyploidy) and developed by selfing, were used to assess the stability of induced traits in M3 and M4 generations. Wide range of traits related with polyploidylevels and aesthetic values were evaluated and also compared with octoploid (8x) standard cultivars as a control. Flow cytometry was used to analyse and confirm induced genetic stability in both generations. The seed germination in octoploid cultivars was about four days earlier and time of flowereng was 10-12 deys earlier than hexadecaploids. Hexadecaploids showed slower growth at early stage and had lower number of leaves and flowers per plant thus achieved also lower dry weight (total over ground vegetative part) compared with octoploids. The seed yield of hexadecaploids was lower, but reasonably adequate for breeding purpose. The seed weight was significantly higher in hexadecaploids, although the number of seeds per plant was highe
