Possibilities of aerial and satellite data interpretation in natural forest ecosystem. Space and Time - A Conference on GIS and Remote Sensing
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Tree species composition, stand spatial structure and tree damage were interpreted and classified in natural forest ecosystem at Nature Reserve Knehyne, the Beskids Mountains, Czech republic. Large-scale aerial CIR photographs (1992) and panchromatic data of Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (1998) were used for this purpose. Visual interpretation of imagery was based in both cases on interpretation characteristics commonly used in aerial photographs: colour characteristics or tone, structure, texture andshade. Results of interpretation were verified in the field and compared with maps and attribute data of forest management plan. In aerial CIR photographs tree species identification and tree damage assessment were successfully performed, while in panchromatic satellite imagery assessment of tree species, pattern and age of homogenous forest areas were possible. Results will serve as a comparative basis for future automated digital classification of remotely sensed data.
