Erosion of the cycle of natural systems and the consecutive resulting instability of climatic factors cause more and more problems not only to farmers, but also to all who compose green and try to keep it up all over the year in the best conditions. Plants located in arid places such as the very unfriendly environment of towns and especially their proximity to thoroughfares and to concrete and bituminous areas in the centre of towns suffer the most. One of the stressful factors is the lack (and occasionally the excess) of water. In these areas, the use of hydroabsorbents, a compound retaining water in soil appears to be very perspective. At our faculty hydroabsorbents have been tested since 1995. Globally we can say that hydroabsorbents do not completely substitute an irrigation system, but they are very effective instruments limiting the daily plant stress thanks to stabilisation of water circulation.
