Problems of soil sampling for estimation of weed seedbank in the soil.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A model experiment was conducted to test a technique of taking soil samples using 3 different soil probes (the diameters of 1.3 cm; 6.4 cm and 8.0 cm) for estimation of weed seedbank in the soil. Soil samples were taken at 3 locations at ten partial samples per soil probe. The samples were analysed and obtained results compared. At all three locations, there was a highly significant difference between the techniques of soil sampling in relation to a number of weed species in the samples. A highly significantly lower number of weed species was found in samples taken by a soil probe at 1.3-cm diameter (on average 5.4 species/sample vs. 13.5 and 14.4, respectively). A theoretical minimum number of taken samples depends on a technique of soil sampling; thehigher diameter of soil probe (sample volume), the lower number of taken samples necessary for obtaining comparable results.
