Hemp (Cannabis sativa, L.) is a source of raw material for industrial products. The aim is to find an optimal growing technology and optimal varieties for growing in the Czech Republic. The project is solved as a part of grant of National Agency for agricultural research. At present this issue is important not only for agricultural use but also for the public. Experiments were established in fields Agritec, research, plant breeding and services in Šumperk on separated plots, in years 1996 - 1999. Thesefields are situated in a cereals production area. Experimental varieties were evaluated from the phenological stage of flowering till the stage of full maturity. The sowing rates were 1, 2 and 3,5 million of germinating seeds (MGS) per hectar. The mineral fertilization gaves were 80 and 20 kg of nitrogen per hectar. There are six varieties - one from Ukraine (Juso 11), three from Poland (Beniko B, Bialobrzeskie, Silesia) and two from France (Tardif and Early), which are involved in field
