The effect of age of pre-ruminant calves on calcium and phosphorus digestibility and retention
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Apparent calcium and phosphorus digestibility was studied in an experiment with five male calves of Czech Red Pied breed at the age of 9 to 91 days. Animals were fed on a milk replacer ad semi-libitum. Digestibility was determined in 23 three-day balanceindicator method. The average estimated values of digestibility of Ca and P were 0.341 ? 0.0161 and 0.689 ? 0.0092, respectively. Digestibility of Ca changed significantly (P<0.05) with the age of calves after the 2nd degree parabola with a minimum on Dasignificantly (P<0.01) linearly daily by 0.0021. Apparent retention of Ca and P was studied in 22 balance periods from Day 12 to 91. Utilization of both elements under study varied highly significantly (P<0.01) with the age. The dependence of Ca retentiowith the minimum on Day 20. Phosphorus retention increased linearly. On average, the calves retained 0.341 ? 0.0159 of calcium and 0.356 ? 0.0113 of phosphorus intake, respectively.
