The carabid beetle samples from pitfalls in different cultures of crops in the potato growing district of Telč during the years 1999 - 2001 were collected. The species spectrum of Carabidae was registered with a special regard to the individual species ecological requirements and evaluated from the viewpoint of synecological indices. Altogether 41 species represented by 33 923 individuals were collected. With the exception of maize plots for silage and perennial rye-grass growths Pterostichus melanariusand Poecilus cupreus were eudominant species in all other crops under research.
