The effect of increasing doses of arsenic on two potato varieties was studied in three-year field trials established on two sites. The results were inambiguous and confirmed that the uptake of arsenic by potatoes is based on the level of its active formin the soil; distribution in plant is different. The average content of arsenic in potato tops was several times higher than in tubers. In both cases the dependence of the degree of arsenic contamination of the soil was statistically significant. The dependence of concentration and distribution of arsenic in potatoes on lacality was found to be highly significant both in tubers and in tops.
