The paper deals with changes when in 1989 redistribution of forests began and in addition to state forests also private forests originated. A large group of small forest properties occurred for which models of logging small-scale technologies have not yet been developed and tested under conditions of the Czech Republic. In addition to a dominant farm tractor with a forest superstructure, also machines of a power below 30 kW begin to be used for skidding operations in private forests. For their use, silvicultural and phytotechnical requirements are given and for their movement on forest ground constructional and technical/technological requirements An overview is given of used small-power wheeled, caterpillar and half-track technology suitable for skidding both whole-stem and shortened logs or for forwarding.
