Grapevine cultivars registered in the Czech Republic were a subject of RAPD analysis. DNA was isolated from leaflets by using commercial kit from the firm Qiagen. Nine varieties which are supposed to be genetically different and one hundred and twenty primers made by Operon, were used for screening of RAPD method. Sixteen primers producing reproducible and polymorphic bands were used for amplification of all registered varieties.A dendrogram of genetic relationship and a methodology of identification were created for each variety. It was possible to positively identify twenty six of the fifty one varieties registered in the Czech Republic just by using present bands. Nine varieties were identified only on the basis of present and absent bands. Some varieties, which are very close relative, formed small groups. It was possible to identify these varieties only as whole clusters. Two varieties were not identifiable at all. The array of the varieties will be furthermore tested by SSR metho
