Detection of Mycoplasma agalactiae in Jordanian sheep and goats
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Contagious agalactia of sheep and goats is a highly infectious disease caused, in most of the cases, by Mycoplasma (M.) agalactiae. Its clinical manifestations include mastitis, arthritis, keratoconjunctivitis and respiratory problems. This study was focused on the occurrence of contagious agalactia in sheep and goats from Jordan. On examination, all the animals studied showed clinical signs of infectious disease. Blood samples for serological tests were collected from 137 animals (78 sheep and 59 goats). In ELISA for antibody detection, eight serum samples gave positive (3 sheep, 5 goats), 11 dubious (6 sheep, 5 goats) and 118 negative results. To detect the M. agalactiae antigen, a total of 107 swabs (conjunctival, nasal, rectal, vaginal and preputial and from the external auditory canal) were concurrently taken from 15 sheep and 20 goats of this group. In ELISA for antigen detection, positive results were found in 11 (2 sheep, 9 goats), dubious in 10 (2 sheep, 8 goats) and negative
